Frequently Asked Questions (with answers)
Will the water collected be clean? If so, how would this process happen?
The water will indeed be clean. The idea behind this is to have a filter be placed right before the water enters and leaves the water storage tank. This way will ensure that the water used is as clean as possible. If oil is spilled on the pavement, the permeable pavement has a built in filtration system made to filter out oil in case of a spill.
How will enough energy be created just from the rain-hydroelectric system?
Do combat this issue, the water will be stored in a level before it enters the hydroelectric turbine. This level will fill the whole way up and then will empty the water on to the electric turbine which will produce a large amount of energy. This will happen every time the tank fills up.
Where does the water go after it is used to power the hydroelectric generator?
After the water that is collected through the porous asphalt, it is collected in a tank where it is funneled towards a hydroelectric generator. This is where the generator uses the pressure of the water to convert its' kinetic energy to usable electricity. The water then continues its' journey by traveling throughout the house's pipes that are inlaid inside the walls. The water will regulate the temperature of the house; in warm temperature, the water that flows through the pipes in the walls will be cooled, effectively cooling the entire house. The water then is utilized by the house by being filtered for use in showers, toilets, and sinks.
